COMHAIRLE CONTAE ÁTHA CLIATH THEAS
SOUTH DUBLIN COUNTY COUNCIL
MEETING OF TERENURE-RATHFARNHAM AREA COMMITTEE 2
Wednesday 11th April 2007
QUESTION No. 11
QUESTION: Councillor M. Árdagh
"To ask the Manager to supply litter bins on Templeville Road between Fortfield Park and Templeogue College to encourage the children attending local schools to use them and reduce the amount of litter on the roads?"
REPLY
A review of cleansing services which is currently being carried out by the Council is expected to be completed in the near future. Negotiations are ongoing between the Council and representatives of the relevant Trade Unions. No additional litter bins are being installed pending the completion of the review which, inter alia, will establish what additional capacity exists for servicing of new litter bins.
When the cleansing review is completed all requests for additional litter bins throughout the County will be examined and a priority list will be drawn up of the areas where additional bins would contribute to the general level of cleanliness which is desirable. The area mentioned in the Motion will be included in the list.
