"To ask the Manager, to update the Committee on the current status of the funding from the Department and all related matters pertaining to the Cushlawn refurbishment programme and can he/she make a statement on the matter".
REPLY
The Department of Environment, Housing and Local Government allocated 11.5m for Phase 1 of Refurbishment Project. This was carried out between 2003 and 2006. and has now been fully completed sucessfully to a very high standard.In all a total of 326 units were refurbished during this Project including 148 dwellings in Cushlawn Estate, Tallaght.
By letter dated 21st February 2007, the Department of the Environment, Housing and Local Government has now conveyed approval for Phase 2 of Refurbishment Programme for a further 200 units, 100 of which will be in Cushlawn Estate, Tallaght. The projected budget for 100 dwellings in Cushlawn Estate is €5,043,000.
Phase 2 of the refurbishment programme is in the initial stages of planning. It is anticipated that tenders for the appointment of suitable contractors to carry out the works will be invited in May 2007. Following the appointment of contractors it is proposed to commence work in the Autumn of this year. The programme will be rolled out over an 18 month period. A technical survey will be carried out in advance of the commencement of the programme and tenants will be advised of any works to be carried out.
