QUESTION No. 4

QUESTION: Councillor M. Corr

"To ask the Manager to outline plans if any for the provision of Bus and Cycle lanes along Kiltipper way, in addition to indicate the likely completion date for the proposed Luas Park and Ride facility at the Square and to state whether this facility will allow for bicycle parking?"

REPLY:

The provision of new QBC schemes and associated Cycle Tracks falls within the remit of the QBN Office, and are subject to funding from the annual Traffic Management Grants programme administered by the DTO. Schemes are prioritised within the Greater Dublin Area by the DTO and QBNO in consultation with the Local Authroities and public transport agencies. At present, there are no proposals for a QBC/Cycle Track to serve Kiltipper Way, and the low level of service on the route at present would make it difficult to prioritise this area over others where the demand is greater. The extent of new development in the Kiltipper-Killinarden area, both existing and proposed, would indicate a potential for servicing the area as part of the Quality Bus Network, and accordingly the QBNO has been requested to consider the area in determining priorities for the future.

While the LUAS Park and Ride for Tallaght is due to open in the next few months, bicycle parking is not included as part of this facility. However, bicycle parking has been provided by SDCC under the DTO Traffic Management Grants programme in the immediate vicinity of the Tallaght Luas terminus.
