QUESTION: Councillor M. Corr

"To ask the Manager to outline what steps have been taken to secure funding and resources for the proposed community facilities and playground for the Fortunestown B development?"

REPLY

It is anticipated that the Community Facilities in Fortunestown B at Mac Uilliam Avenue currently under construction will be completed in May 2007.  The Community Facility consists of meeting rooms at ground level.

In addition  Fortunestown B Phase 5  which is to be Affordable Hosuing in the first instance, will contain  Community Infrastructure containing a community building, crèche, playground and public square at an estimated cost of €3.3m. It is proposed to finance these facilities through a Capital Grant from Area Development Management (through the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform's Childcare Initiative) and from the County Infrastructure Contribution (through Housing Capital Account from the Department of the Environment Heritage and Local Government).
