"To ask the Manager to indicate when extra green bin collections will be arranged as most residents are now recycling more material and the capacity of the green bin is not capable of dealing with the volume of waste and will he make a statement on the issue?"

The Dublin Region Waste Management Steering Group,is currently examining the possibility of providing a plastic bottle recycling system, as part of the Waste Management Plan for the Dublin Region 2005 to 2010. Construction of a Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) will commence in the coming months at Ballymount. The project which is being lead by Dublin City Council will facilitate the separation of the various materials. It is hoped that householders may be able to recycle plastic bottles in their green bins from 2008 onwards. In such a situation it will be necessary to increase the frequency of collection of the green bin.
