QUESTION: Councillor M. Corr
To ask the Manager to indicate how much it costs this council per unit to administer affordable unit sales under the AHI and where the resources and funding for this cost are drawn and if staff resources for this activity are redeployed in the event of an AHI announcement how does this impact on the day to day operation of the other Affordable housing list?
REPLY
At week-ending Friday 23rd February 2007 a total of 408 units have been procured under the Affordable Housing Initiative, in respect of which a total of 374 units have been sold to date. at the following locations throughout the county:
The Belfry( Citywest), Rossecourt and Rathgeal (Clondalkin) Deerpark, Marlfield and Kiltipper Gate (Tallaght) and Blackthorn Hill (Rathcoole)
More recently, a further 113 units are being purchased by the Affordable Homes Partnership under the A.H.I. by way of direct purchase. These units are located as follows:
The Paddocks (Adamstown), City Park (City West), Arena Court and Priors Gate(Tallaght). These applications are currently being processed.
There is no cost to this Council in the administration of the Affordable Housing Initiative as any costs incurred can be recouped and sourced via the Government Initiative. The foregoing enabled this Council recruit additional staff on a contract basis in order to administer the initiative. With this arrangement it was and continues to be possible to facilitate the fast and efficient administration of the sale of affordable units under the AHI.
