MOTION No. 1
MOTION: Councillor J. Hannon
"That urgent action be taken to deal with the ongoing traffic problems at Ballycullen Road, particularly at the Woodstown Village entrance, and that a range of immediate and longer term measures be put in place."
REPORT:
The traffic problems identified at the above locations can only be resolved by the proposed upgrade of Scholarstown Interchange which is currently scheduled for completion towards the end of the M50 Upgrade Programme, c. 2010. In the interim the Roads & Traffic Department will continue to examine and implement where practicable such short-term measures as may bring partial relief, though investigations to date have shown these as likely to have little or no benefit to the overall situation and that measures, such as signalising the interchange, which might assist flow in one direction would worsen the situation in others.
