QUESTION: Councillor J. Neville

"To ask the Manager for an update on the proposed Cycle track on the Old Bawn Road which it is my understanding was approved by the D.T.O in 2004 and will the Manager indicate a time-frame for the construction of such a Cycle track?"

REPLY

While preliminary approval subject to conditions was notified by the DTO in July 2004 no funding was allocated in respect off the Old Bawn cycle route at the time or since. In the interim there has been a change of emphasis in the DTO with regard to new cycle routes, and approval for all proposals is now subject to the recommendation of the DTO Cycle Policy Group which was established in late 2006.
