QUESTION No. 4
QUESTION: Councillor R. Dowds
To ask the Manager to outline policy with regard to the housing of single males in need of social housing?
REPLY
Any person that applies for Housing will have their need assessed in line with the Council's Scheme of Letting Priorities. Any applicant that satisfies the criteria set out therein will be included on the Council's Housing List. Applications are assessed on a case by case basis and inclusion depends on the particular circumstances of the applicant.
The Council maintains a stock of one bedroom units of accommodation, these units are allocated to single adults with no dependants and couples with no dependants. Single males and females who have been deemed as in need of social housing and included on the Council's Housing List are offered suitable housing in line with their position on the list, in accordance with the Council's Scheme of Letting Priorities.
