QUESTION No. 3
QUESTION: Councillor J. Hannon
"To ask the Manager to report on the provision of public lighting at *address supplied and can he indicate why a small payment from SDCC to ESB was not made, thus delaying a very necessary facility?"
REPLY:
The procedures for making connections to the public lighting systems were changed in that the E.S.B. required pre-payment for each connection to a mini-pillar. The cost of each connection was increased to €350 approx. The E.S.B. will not accept an order from the Council and the Council is being treated like every private customer. It is not acceptable for the Council to pay for connections in private developments and then pursue a refund from the developers.
A cheque has been issued from the Council to the ESB to provide a connection to the lighting columns at *address supplied and Public Lighting Section will endeavour to expedite this connection as speedily as possible.
