QUESTION: Councillor J. Neville

" To ask the Manager to have repaired as a matter of urgency the leaking roofs at details supplied*  and will the Manager please note that this is a recurring problem and has been raised by this Councillor over the last two years?"

REPLY

The roofs at these addresses have caused ongoing problems at various stages since construction stage. Housing Construction Section and the Architectural  Services Department are working to address the problem with the original parties involved.

An on site meeting/inspection was held with Architects Dept and the Contractor on 13/12/06 at a number of the affected houses - though access could not be gained to all. The inspection revealed a number of problems and a comprehensive report is awaited from the roofing system manufacturer.

Upon receipt of this report ( expected in January 2007 ) required works will be undertaken to rectify the leaking problems. It should be noted that measures are being put in place to ensure that similar problems will not arise elsewhere where the same roof type is being provided.
