QUESTION No. 17

QUESTION: Councillor K. Warren

"To ask the Manager to give a precise description of the new boundary wall that is proposed on the soon to be constructed new Greenhills Road opposite Birchview Avenue in Kilnamanagh, what is the size of this wall, if there is a gap in the wall so as to allow pedestrians to walk across the new road, if the wall is a block wall or a stub wall and railings, what is the start up date for the construction of the new road, where will the machinery responsible for constructing the new road be parked on the site, is it the case that a bus lane is proposed for the new Greenhills Road extension, and if he will make a statement on the matter?”

REPLY:

A 2 metre high blockwork wall, rendered on both sides is proposed along the new road adjacent Birchview Avenue.   A pedestrian access is proposed to be located in the T-junction opposite numbers 4 and 12 Birchview Avenue.   An undertaken was given during the Part 8 procedure that facilities for the contractor would be located away from residences.   No contractor facilities will be permitted along the area fronting Birchview Avenue.

Tenders are currently being sought for the site investigation works and these works should commence in Spring 2007.   Following this tenders will be sought for the main contract and these works are scheduled to commence in late Summer 2007.

Adequate carriageway widths will be made available for future buslanes along the proposed route.   It is the responsibility of the QBN Office to bring their proposals for the bus lanes to public consultation and to obtain the necessary  approval.
