QUESTION No. 20

QUESTION: Councillor K. Warren

“To ask the Manager if he would organise a meeting between *details supplied and his Department, to assess the current danger to pupils who attend this school, given the considerable traffic volumes that exist at this location, and the speed of the traffic involved, and in the context of selecting schools for extensive traffic calming programmes in relation to the 2007 Roads Estimate, if this school could be considered for such a traffic claming scheme, and the likely timeframe involved when a decision on the 2007 Traffic Calming Scheme can be made, and if he will make a statement on the matter?”

REPLY:

As part of the speed limit review the Council has now commenced an examination of the traffic situation at all schools. A number of schools have been prioritised in consultation with the members and this assessement is in progress. Part of the assessement involves meetings with the school principal and parents groups and arising from these consultations a scheme is formulated. Contact will be made and a meeting will be arranged for early in January 2007 for the school referred to.
