MOTION No. 13
MOTION: Councillor A. White
"That the Manager arrange for a clean-up to be done in Rathfarnham village on Saturday and Sunday mornings as the Main Street is usually filthy on weekend mornings, especially with chip-shop bags and wrappers?"
REPORT:
The local Handcart Operative’s duties includes cleaning Rathfarnham village on Sundays.
The Council is aware of the continuous need to monitor and improve its anti-littering services.
In this regard a general review of the Council’s cleansing service countywide is currently taking place. Meetings to discuss the issues involved have commenced with the trade unions representing the workers. It is hoped that agreement can be reached on a more flexible approach, where required, to the operation of the cleansing service generally which will hopefully result in an improved service being provided. It is not possible at this stage to state when the discussions will be concluded. However, every effort will be made to bring matters to a successful conclusion as quickly as possible.
