QUESTION NO: 22

QUESTION: Councillor E. Walsh

"To ask the Manager to request the Pest Control Service to examine the derelict site beside the Traders Pub on St. James Road for rat infestation and have the necessary action taken?"

REPLY

This site was visited by an Environmental Health Officer in response to a complaint regarding litter.  There was a small amount of litter reported by the Environmental Health Officer which was dealt with by the Litter Warden.

There was no evidence of rats at that time.  The Pest Control Service of the Health Executive has been scaled down recently but the Environmental Health Officer has advised that if there are individual private residences experiencing a problem with rats they would be dealt with by the Pest Control Service.

The Derelict Sites Section of the Development Department has also been requested to examine the site in question.
