QUESTION No. 17
QUESTION: Councillor G. O'Connell
To ask the Manager for a report on the operation of the traffic arrangements in place to facilitate the M50 roadworks and to indicate in his answer if pedestrians and cyclists are adequately provided for at relevant locations and to comment generally on the operation of the scheme?
REPLY
The traffic management arrangements in use during the course of the M50 upgrade works have been agreed with the Garda authorities and the council's traffic division as part of the overall traffic management proposals agred with the contarctor. Weekly meeting are held with the contractor in this regard. The provision of pedestrian and cyclist facilities is is similar to that which pertained before works commenced and will be greatly enhanced on completion of the scheme when dedicated pedestrian and cyclist facilities are provided. Temporary facilities can never be considered as perfect and need to be monitored on an ongoing basis to ensure safety for users. If there are particular areas of concern these should be brought to the council's attention as soon as possible.
