QUESTION: Councillor C. King
To ask the Manager, to report on progress made in relation to the Council's Homeless list in comparison to the list this time last year and can he/she make a statement on the matter?
REPLY
Homeless register as at November 2005 comprised of 52 applicants. Of these -
9 Local Authority housing
2 Voluntary housing
11 Transitional housing
3 Deferred ASB
8 Supported housing - moving in in coming weeks
19 Otherwise accommodated - Private rented, family, no contact, etc
There are currently 14 new applicants on the Council's Homeless Register. These applications are being reviewed by the Outreach Worker.
The Council is currently developing an extensive housing programme and South Dublin County Council will continue to explore various options including some under the Part V Housing Strategy with a view to meeting its obligations. The Council aims to provide for up to 10% of all lettings by South Dublin County Council being made to households which are homeless.
