To ask the Manager what is the minimum step back required for a building in an area built up in the style of an old village. The distance requested being from the side or centre of the road?

The South Dublin County Council Development Plan 2004 -2010 does not set out minimum standards for set backs.  In general, each proposal is assessed on its merits having regard to:

However, Section 5.2.5 of the Tallaght Masterplan does address this issue.  In particular, this plan states:

Setbacks of up to 1.5 m shall normally be provided for residential development where the area between the fronting building line and the footpath predominantly consist of hard or soft landscaping.  Setbacks within the Architectural Conservation Area are to follow the line of adjacent buildings
