QUESTION No. 15

QUESTION: Councillor K. Warren

“To ask the Manager if in the context of the Firhouse Road Improvement Scheme, a proper pedestrian crossing is going to be established close to the entrance to Firhouse Community College on the Firhouse Road, or if an alternative site has been found for this project, if and when the project will start, and the likely time frame involved, and what access will residents in the Kilakee area who use the Ballycullen Drive onto the Firhouse Road have in terms of accessing the road while construction works are taking place, and if he will make a statement on the matter.”

REPLY:

A signallised pedestrian crossing will be constucted adjacent to Firhouse Community College.

The Project commenced in October 2006 and is targetted for completion by the end of 2007 / early 2008.

Access to/from Ballycullen Drive will be maintained for the duration of the construction works.   Inevitably there will be a degree of disruption and motorists are requested to be patient and to exercise all due care and attention in this regard.
