MOTION NO. 5

MOTION: Cllr. John Lahart

"That the Manager agrees to reinstate the caretaker at the Owendoher Lodge Traveller Accommodation and to make a statement on the management of the site."

REPORT

The caretaking service has never been withdrawn from Owendoher Haven Residential Caravan Park so the request to reinstate the service does not arise. The Caretaker of Owendoher Haven remains in place and continues to perform his duties in an excellent manner. As with all Council tenants the Caretaker has the option of applying for a transfer to alternative accommodation and in this case has exercised this option.   There has been no reduction in the level of service and the Caretaker is still fully committed to his duties. The development is still looked after to the same high standard that it has always been. 

It should be noted however that the Council is at present carrying out a full review of all its caretaking and estate based management arrangements. It is likely that a number of new and innovative proposals will flow from the review with the overall objective of improving the service to the community. As proposals develop the Area Committee will be informed.
